Sniper Strategy
The key to being a paintball sniper isn’t the distance your gun can fire. It is partially the consistency and accuracy in your paintball gun. More importantly it is your skill as a paintball sniper as well as good paintball sniper strategy. There are two types of paintball snipers, the forward paintball sniper and rear paintball sniper.
Forward Sniper:
A forward sniper immediately heads forward upon the game starting. He wants to get into a forward area and set up his position. From there he will try to hide so he can use single shots to take out opposing players before they see him.
The ideal spot for a forward sniper is somewhere that the other team will walk right past. It is a lot easier to kill and stay hidden if you can get your opponents’ backs and demolish them.
Rear or Guard Sniper:
This sniper hangs back near the base/flag and is primarily concerned with taking out any attackers who come close to the base. He can typically get an even better hiding spot because of the extra time to hide.
The biggest key to being a paintball sniper is blending in. Camouflage is one way to blend in during a woodsball paintball game. Some players even use a ghilli suit, the same kind of suit military snipers use. The biggest key to blending in is to not have an easy to distinguish frame. The human frame is an easily recognized shape in the woods. Attaching sticks and leaves and long grass is a way to break up your frame and blend in better. Remember, aim before you shoot. You want your first shot to be the only shot you use.
